The Best Growlers, a list by Tarleif.

In all history of music the element that has set Death Metal apart from other types of Metal is the growl. Comforting and advicefull, the Extreme Metal vocals have always been cool. And it is therefore i have decided to post my favorite Growlers

5. Juan Brujo (Brujeria)

Of all Deathgrind bands Brujeria has some of the coolest vocals. Their lyrics about such important matters as sex, narcotics, satanism and the lack of dead white people, has always touched me deep inside, but it is those magnificent vocals that makes it good. Juan Brujo's delivery is amazingly harsh and Mexican at the same time, something that other bands doesn't manage to do. Personally i think that Cannibal Corpse and most other Death Metal bands would be highly improved with Brujo or any other Mexican on vocals.

4. Chuck Schuldiner (Death)

When it comes to being different in your style of growling, few people manage to be as different as Chuck. While most would try to go lower and lower in sound, he would just go upper and upper. This is the thing that made him and his band different, and it is also one of the thousand reasons to love Death.

 3. Barney Greenway (Napalm Death)

In my meaning the best vocalist Napalm Death ever have had. Greenway's cool and fantastic growl is one of the most recognizable in Death Metal today. I have not heard anyone that have managed to sound as British and ferocious as this man. Not only does his vocals improve Napalm's songs perfectly, but they also fit greatly for covers. Short hair or long hair, Greenway has always been awesome.

2. Tsukasa Harakawa (Hellchild)

Easily the most unknown vocalist on this list, but his place is truly deserved. He is another growler that really separates himself from the standard Death Metal sound, and it is also therefore i really adore his style. Hellchild is probably my favorite Death Metal band, largely due to Harakawa's amazing vocals. I urge most people to listen to Hellchild, an underrated and extremely amazing band with a great vocalist.

1. Corporate Death/Nosferatu (Macabre)

Since Wikipedia lists both of them as vocalists, i have to give it a tie. Because when it comes to Death Metal, no band has the similar reach of spectacularity as Macabre. They can sing good in several styles, not just growling. Just like Brujeria, Macabre has some awesome lyrics. Their choice of themes is not drug trade and Mexicanity though, but serial killers. People like Manson, Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer are all normal characters in their wicked stories.
