Finland. 2001. The «October Falls» was an introduction to all Neofolk and Dark folk for my own music experience. October Falls is often categorized as a band within these genres, but also with a obvious Black Metal side. They have the extraordinary proportion to blow your mind within seconds, when those first tones are playing through your darkest time in the day.
The distinctness between this band and lots of others in the same genre is due to their mixture between different genres and their exclusive artistic style. The vocals in their music and their albums are similar, but still a lot different from others in the same style of music.
Yeah, that’s about it. I especially recommend October Fall’s newest album (30. April 2010) A Collapse of Faith. Some good shit right there.
